DPD Germany Service Details

The following service details apply when shipping with DPD Germany from ShipStation.

How to Calculate Girth and Combined Dimensions

Girth is the sum of the two shorter sides of a parcel, multiplied by 2. For example: The girth for a parcel measuring 35 x 20 x 10 cm would be calculated as 2*(20+10). So, the girth for this parcel is 60.

Combined dimensions is the girth + the longest side. Using the above example it would be calculated as 60 (girth) + 35 (longest side) = 95 (combined dimensions).

For additional assistance with calculating the girth and combined dimensions of a parcel, see the DPD Girth Calculator. DE Calculator | EN Calculator

Additional Details about DPD from ShipStation

  • DPD labels cannot be voided in ShipStation.

  • Custom label messages and label branding are not available for DPD shipping labels. The Order Number will be printed on the label in the Ref field.

  • DPD restricts the customs description field to 25 characters. If the description exceeds this character limit, you may receive an error when attempting to create a label.

By default, ShipStation uses the product name for the customs description field. If your product names exceed 25 characters, update the description field of the product record to a description that is 25 characters or fewer. This value will overwrite the customs description field for orders going forward.

  • If your parcel is dropped off at your local DPD store before 12 noon it will have a greater chance of next-day delivery, however, this is not guaranteed. Your item will be delivered within 1-2 working days following drop-off.

  • Labels for DPD Germany from ShipStation will expire if they are not used within 30 days of creation.

Post-Shipping Charges

Certain courier-imposed fees may be assessed after you create a label and dispatch the parcel.

These fees include, but are not limited to:

  • Excess weight surcharges

  • Out-of-area surcharges

  • Courier pickup-up surcharges

These fees are assessed by the courier and reported back to ShipStation. Once ShipStation has received notification of these charges, they will be billed to the credit card you set up for carrier fees.
